I see we are starting to have a few people find our forum and register, Yipee!!!! I really think our fourm will be a huge asset to our club. It will be a great way to share and learn from each other.

Most forums I am on have an introuductions thread so I thought I would start one. Most of us probably know each other a little bit from camera club but our club has enlarged so much lately and we have a lot of new members, so I think it would be nice to hear a bit about you.

    Thanks
    Jo Ann

I will even go first :)

I am 42 years old, happily married with 2 grown sons. I have been an LPN for 22 years, but for many of those years I was a stay at home, homeschooling mom. Now that my children are grown, I work part time as a school nurse. I was born in TN and have lived here most of my life, but spent a few years in Indiana and South Carolina.

I have been very interested in photography since childhood. I love, love, love to take pictures. It is such a thrill to capture a moment, a memory that I can hold in my hand, keep, share and look at for years to come. Some of my greatest treasures are the photos of my children growing up and the few old pictures I have from generations before me. I also love to scrapbook but have temporarily laid that aside while I pour myself into learning photography.

I love to learn about photography. My goal is not to make photography my business but to be good enough at photography that I could make it a business. I feel I have a lot to learn but am having so much fun pursuing it. I love to help others learn about photography and to learn from others.

My favorite things to shoot are people, macro, and scenics. I shoot with a Canon 40d and I literally carry my camera everywhere I go : )

I enjoy photographing landscape primarily. I have come across some nice old trucks and trains and some old buildings. I've done weddings, graduation photos and baptisms. I'll stick to landscape. I shoot with a D700 because it is a full frame and landscape photos benefit from this size sensor. I always use a tripod and cable release. If your breathing your moving. You won't see it on that small screen of your camera however, when it comes time to enlarge it for display it will be disappointing.
Do the best you can in the camera then fine tune it with software. I use Adobe CS4 on a MAC. I print on an Epson R1900. I am a high volume shooter.

I am a retired RN, who has raised four children, and as they left home, I started to have time to spend learning about photography and this new technology. I have always loved taking pictures, but didn't have the time nor opportunity to persue this interest until the past few years. I always thought I would work at a public job until my demise, but as the kids became independent, I found that I didn't have to work so long after all, so needless to say, I'm LOVING RETIREMENT!!

I enjoy taking pictures of 'my world', whatever that happens to be at any given moment, but basically anything in nature is my pull. Like Joann, I LOVE taking pictures and capturing a picture that will last forever.

If I have a favorite time for taking pictures, it would probably be foggy morning shots. I find the fog gives such soft outlines to trees and objects, and even spiderwebs, that I love going out in the early morning fog to see what will reveal itself to me. I love capturing bird photos, and have set up in my backyard bird feeders and a birdbath and sometimes they pose for me!

When I am in an area that has really nice landscape, I love to get good sharp pictures of scenes as well..........waterfalls, beautiful trees and mountain streams. All of nature calls me for pictures!

Using a macro lens is so much fun. Sometimes I find things in the macro shots that I didn't see with the eye!

So, even though I shoot weddings, family portraits, and the like, my real love of photography is NATURE..........any and all!

Bumping this to the top to make it easy for our newcomers to find it :)
  1.
I have been taking pictures for a long time but only recently have I gotten serious about it. I received my first camera when I was about 7 years old. It is a 35 mm Vivitar EF35, which I still have! Now I shoot with a Panasonic Lumix point-and-shoot, and for the more involved shots I have an older Lumix that has aperture and shutter priority modes. I now use Gimp in Linux to for photo editing, but I started off using Photoshop in 1997.

I am a married stay-at-home mom - my daughter Mariana turned 1 in October 2009. I mostly take pictures of her! I am starting to experiment with landscape and macro photography as well.

In my "previous life" I was a web programmer. I have a computer science degree from Virginia Tech. I attended Tennessee Tech for 3 years and then transferred to VT to finish my degree. Then I worked in Houston, Texas for almost 4 years and moved back closer to home in 2006. I worked here in Cookeville for a couple of years as well before my daughter was born.

I am also a crafter! I do pretty much everything - embroidery, quilting, scrapbooking, jewelry making, sewing, some knitting and crocheting... as time allows :-)

I'm Ben. A 10 year Cookeville resident, I picked up photography back in college when I scored my mom's old Hanimex 35MM. I had absolutely no idea what I was doing but i loved the surprise every time I got a roll of film back.
Since then i have move to and from digital and now back again. I currently shoot full frame Canon digital. And I love finding old lenses that i can adapt to Canon's EF mount. I use an iMac, CS4, Lightroom, and an Epson 2200 printer.
In terms of subject, I was big into sports for a while. Now I'm leaning more into portraiture and street photography.
I have been kind of out of touch with the CCC so I look forward to being an active part of this growing community.
